We received a service call from a client about water intrusion coming from the wall around the window. Water’s Fault was requested to perform a water damage assessment.
We detected Class 1 water damage. Excessive moisture was detected on the wall and ceiling adjacent to the window. Water damage mitigation was recommended, and the client made the decision to proceed with our company’s service, including partial demolition of affected materials.
After performing the partial ceiling and drywall removal, our technicians discovered mold on the back side of the drywall and on the wooden structures. Mold remediation was required, taking all necessary safety precautions. After the drying was complete, we conducted a water test and discovered multiple sources of water intrusion in the exterior wall. Those spots were marked to allow other contractors to repair the siding. In order to protect the property from water damage while the wall and ceiling are open, our team covered part of the exterior wall with plastic.
The scope of work included:
- Building containment to protect the undamaged area from spreading of mold spores and dust
- Protecting the flooring from damage by covering it with building paper
- Partial opening of the ceiling and wall around window
- Mechanical and chemical anti-mold treatment
- Complete dehumidification and drying with the help of professional equipment
- Moisture level control during and after the drying process
- Water test and leak source investigation
- Protecting the exterior wall with plastic as a temporary solution to prevent water damage
- Cleaning the job site
